This mid-summer weekend-long celebration of Cape Vincent’s French heritage attracts visitors from all over with its French pastries, French breads, parades, fireworks and crafters’ village. Cape Vincent was settled by sympathizers of French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, whom they wished to free from exile and relocate here. French Festival has been running for more than 50 years and is one of the 1000 Islands biggest and most-popular celebrations.
Starting in 1971, the Can-Am Festival is a long-running Sackets Harbor tradition celebrating national friendship between the United States & Canada. It's a weekend of music, crafters, cornhole tournaments, kites, farmers markets, kids activities, and more on the waterfront to celebrate Canadian-American heritage where all are welcome to join in on the fun.
The longest consecutively running fair in the USA, the Jefferson County Fair takes place at the Alex Duffy Fairgrounds in Watertown. The six day fair features agricultural and animal exhibits, a midway with carnival rides and games, Fireman’s Parade, delicious food and treats, midway entertainment, vendors, grandstand events, and much more!
For the past two years, the Brew York beer and music festival has been hosted in Sackets Harbor, amidst the natural beauty and backdrop of Lake Ontario and the historic Madison Barracks. A group of dedicated craft beer, music, and artisan food fans aspire to provide the ultimate festival atmosphere for these artistic expressions and the extended community to flourish.
The Autos on the River Vintage and Classic Car Show is held at Cape Vincent Village Green. A family-fun show with kid-friendly events, including a hula hoop and bubblegum blowing contest, facepainting, concessions, Cape Street Market, 50/50 raffle, door prizes and much more!
The Sackets Harbor Historical Society hosts the Concerts on the Waterfront series on Sundays in the summer, from 3 to 5 pm, at the Sackets Harbor Battlefield, located at 504 West Main Street. All the concerts are free and open to the public. They’re held outdoors at the Battlefield, so remember to pack your picnic blanket or lawn chairs.
